Emily first qualified as a Level 3 Beauty Therapist in 2003 and has been in the industry for over 20 years, during this period of time she has achieved many of her goals such as working on board cruise ships for over 9 years and travelling the world to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience directly related to the beauty industry.
Emily also worked in some top London spas such as East River Spa in the Radisson Edwardian Providence Wharf and helped establish OSPA LONDON spas from being a company on cruise ships to opening 7 land based spas within the central London area.
She then went on to complete her Level 3 Award in Education and Training, which allows her to mentor and train young therapists who are brand new to the industry.

When she came back to Eastbourne after travelling the world, Emily realised that she needed a fresh new challenge, so decided to create a beauty salon that encapsulates everything she had learnt within the beauty industry and bring this in to her hometown.
The Beauty Bar prides itself on delivering a personalised service with high quality treatments in a relaxed environment, that is comfortable for both men and women. Emily regularly attends courses for new treatments, keeping her skills and service menu fresh and up to date with current trends. She takes great pride in her work, and absolutely loves what she does!
Since the salon has opened it have won Highly Commended Start up Business of the Year at the Women in Business Awards 2017. In 2018 Emily won Beauty Therapist of the Year and Highly Commended Beauty Salon of the Year at the Southern Hair and Beauty Awards. 2022 was a great year winning both UK Enterprise Awards – Best South East Beauty Salon 2022, East Sussex Customer Service Excellence Awards 2022 – Beauty Salon of the Year and South England Prestige Awards 2022/2023 Manicure Specialist of the Year – East Sussex.
Her favourite part of her job is seeing how much her clients love their results, and helping people look and feel amazing.
Katie joined The Beauty Bar team in September 2018 bringing her warm, friendly, positive and caring nature to the role. Katie has always been interested in the industry from a young age and after working in the health and social care sector decided to pursue her passion and become a Beauty Therapist.
Katie has been in the Beauty industry for over 15 years after qualifying in 2007 and has range of experience working in salons both in Manchester and Eastbourne.
Katie offers a wide range of treatments at The Beauty Bar including Nail Treatments, Wax Treatments, Eye Treatments and Face and Body treatments. Katie is our Holistic Massage and Hot Stone Massage Specialist.
Katie’s favourite treatment is a Full Body Massage. She loves how it makes a positive difference to the client by helping to remedy their problems. For example, if they are struggling with a bad back, she can successfully help alleviate the pain they are in. Katie loves how rewarding this part of the job is, where you can see how much you have made a difference to your client and how appreciative they are for that.
Katie loves working at The Beauty Bar because “I love being part of a small independent salon with a strong female team where we all help each other. I also love getting to know our clients really well and building up a great rapport with them whereby I can offer them a personal bespoke experience”. She puts her clients need at the heart of everything she does. Her favourite part of the job is getting to have face to face interaction with her clients and getting to work closely with people helping to brighten their day.
Her favourite brand is Natural Spa Factory. She loves how all the ingredients used in the products are as natural as they can be and how they are also full of fresh scents due to the botanically sourced ingredients used within them.
In her spare time Katie loves to follow an active lifestyle. She loves to visit the gym and takes part in high fast paced activities such as completing the Tough Mudder course. Katie is also a keen runner and loves to take on a running challenge including the Brighton Half Marathon. You’ll also find Katie enjoying the outdoors and nature with her young son.
Amy joined The Beauty Bar in August 2021. Amy completed her Level 2 in Make-up Artistry before completing her Level 2 in Beauty Therapy in 2021. Amy is currently working towards achieving her Level 3 in Beauty Therapy this year.
She became a Beauty Therapist because she loves how beauty treatments not only transform the way someone looks externally but also how it can transform the way someone feels internally. Amy believes it is important to help people feel good about themselves, with their well-being at the heart of everything she does.
Amy offers a range of treatments including Nail Treatments, Waxing Treatments and Eye Treatments. Amy also covers our reception giving our clients a warm and friendly welcome and helps to prepare the salon for the day ahead. Going forward Amy is excited to continue to grow her skills and learn more about holistic treatments such as Facials and Body Massages.
Amy’s favourite treatment is a Classic Pedicure. She loves seeing the transformation that takes place for the client and how it makes them feel better physically and emotionally. Amy likes to make sure our clients leave the salon feeling good about themselves.

Her favourite brand at The Beauty Bar is Navy Professional products. She loves the fresh signature scent of mandarin and sandalwood. The brand is also known for their high standard of hygiene while being ethically sourced, vegan friendly and cruelty free.
In her spare time, you’ll find Amy out and about enjoying nature and visiting her favourite National Trust properties. She is a big fan of yoga and meditation and loves to adopt a holistic approach to life. She also uses her spare time to practice her beauty skills on her friends and family.
In 2022 our therapist Amy competed in the ‘World Skills UK National Competition’ as a Beauty Therapy Practitioner representing her college and after months of preparing and working tirelessly in her spare time she made it to the finals in Blackpool. We are very happy to announce that on the finals she won the Silver Medal 🥈meaning she is now 2nd in The Uk for Beauty Therapy 2022.
Kara joined The Beauty Bar team in November 2022 and has been qualified over 10 years. She has both salon and mobile experience. Kara was one of the first therapists Salon Owner Emily mentored and they continue to work closely today.
Kara’s favourite treatment is Gel Manicures and any kind of Nail Art, so she can make use of her creative side.
She also offers Waxing, Tinting, Foot Treatments and Face and Body Treatments.
Kara specialises in Hopi Ear Candles. The treatment helps to reduce inflammation in the ears and sinuses. It relieves the symptoms of hay fever, rebalances your body’s natural flow and generally calms and relaxes you when life is stressful.
When Kara is not working, she is interested in anything that involves crafting and she often makes festive crafts for the Annual Beauty Bar Christmas Market. She is also a keen cook and loves any excuse to get her slow cooker out. Her favourite season is Autumn and loves Autumn walks and taking photos outside with her children.
